Last week, we were presented with a massive cheque for £10,142.10 from TCi (GB) Ltd after a busy year of fundraising.
Having chosen Care for Kids as its charity of the year, TCi set to work looking for ways to raise money. They entered a team in the Barnstaple 10K, undertook regular collections in the office and held a Christmas jumper day. However, the company’s biggest fundraiser was a marathon distance walk taken on by the Directors. They walked the coast path from one of its live construction sites in Ilfracombe to TCi’s head office in Barnstaple. The challenge raised over £6,400.
Jacky Massos, Charity Manager and Trustee, says: ‘We’ve been absolutely blown us away by the team at TCi’s fundraising efforts. When they chose us as charity of the year we had no idea they would raise over £10,000! Not only have they helped us financially, their efforts have really shone a spotlight on us as a small charity. Hopefully their efforts will be noticed by other local businesses, who in turn will consider taking on some fundraising of their own.’
TCi provides commercial and industrial new-build construction, interior fit-out and refurbishment across the UK. It also supplies and installs office and welfare furniture nationwide.
Lead administrator, Megan Barnes was responsible for coordinating participation. She explained, ‘we really didn’t know what we might achieve. Everyone recognised the amazing help that Care for Kids North Devon provides to a wide community and got stuck in. This goes to show that if you get behind something as a company, you can make a real difference to small, local charities that need our support. I’d encourage any business to do the same because the benefits are real and the feel-good factor amongst staff is brilliant!’
Care for Kids North Devon provides financial support to North Devon families who have a child diagnosed with a life threatening illness or condition. The money TCi has raised will be enough to support ten local families. We also carry out enhancements at the children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital.
