We have successfully completed our latest transformation project at the children’s ward, thanks to a generous donation from Perrigo in Braunton.

Our latest project at Caroline Thorpe ward is the refurbishment of Cubicle 3 (an individual bedroom on the ward). We’ve made it a more comfortable place to stay for children who need to spend longer periods of time in hospital.

As well as the whole room being specially lined and painted, there’s a new wall mounted TV, games console and digital art on the walls. There’s a new chair bed to make things more comfortable for parents who sleep over, allowing them to stay close to their child all night. These investments will help make stays on the Caroline Thorpe children’s ward a more positive and comfortable experience for local children and their families.

“We are really pleased to have completed our third cubicle transformation project at the children’s ward. Having already refurbished the playroom and parent’s room, we’re working on gradually upgrading all of the individual bedrooms on the ward. Having a comfortable environment when you’re poorly is really important, especially for children. A big thank you to Perrigo for donating £20,000 to complete this project, it is fantastic to have the support of local businesses, without whom projects like this wouldn’t be possible.”

Jacky Massos, Care for Kids Trustee

“Perrigo was extremely pleased to make the donation in recognition of the invaluable work conducted by Care for Kids, including this refurbishment. The charity has a strong local appeal, which is one of the reasons why it was nominated by our employees. The Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation supports the health and wellbeing of the communities where we live and work, so this was a perfect fit.”

Caroline Norfolk-Shaw, Perrigo

As well as carrying out enhancements to the children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital, Care for Kids North Devon also helps families who have a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. If you would like to support our work, please consider making a donation.
