Today we launch our Christmas Appeal 2021. Can you help care for a child close to you this Christmas?
It’s been another tough year for our charity. We’ve sadly had to cancel some events and make others virtual. This has all meant we haven’t been able to raise as much as we usually do.
What we do
Each year we help between 10 and 15 local families as they struggle to come to terms with the news that their child has a life-threatening illness or condition. It’s not an easy position to be in. Having to worry about money as well, can make things even tougher. Which is where Care for Kids steps in. We give instant grants to help families with the expenses of taking their poorly child to specialist children’s hospitals outside the area.
We also help to make the Caroline Thorpe ward a more comfortable place for the families who use it. Thanks to a grant from the Morrison’s Foundation, we were able to transform another bedroom on the ward this year. Despite the pandemic, we’ve been able to carry on our work on the ward and will continue to do so. But we need your help.
